Dodleston Pre-School is located in the spacious Village Hall on Pulford Lane in Dodleston, near Chester and North Wales. We have a large indoor space and then a private outdoor area where the children can play in the sand, explore the bug zone, plant seeds and shrubs and more.
Inside our village hall
The main hall area is spacious with wide alleyways between tables and activities. Tables are a variety of heights and have the associated matching chairs. We do spend most of our time outside but having the indoor space is such a bonus when the weather is pants!
There are 2 staircases leading to an upstairs kitchen and office area, however the children do not access these areas. There is a lift for access to these areas for less able parents, carers and staff.
The toilets have a low-level sink and one low-level child’s toilet. The sinks have room to fit a wheelchair underneath. In addition, there is a disabled toilet area with handrail and low level sink.
Our outdoor space
The outside space is the most important to us. The children spend most of their time outside, come rain or shine.
Double fire doors lead off the main hall to the outside area and onto concrete. We have a large concrete area and several grassed areas. A concrete circle allows access to most areas of the garden.
Our play areas consist of certain zones, including:
- A construction play zone
- A bug zone
- Space for planting and gardening
- Mud kitchen (see below)
- Sand pits
- Slides and climbing frames
Additional Information
The village hall has parking for at least 4 cars right at its entrance and there is a further car park across the road. Access from both is flat, although the kerb is not lowered on the road side of the additional car park. The entrance to the hall is flat and the doorways wide. There is an undercover porch area and a further entrance hall available to wait in.
