Unusually, we had to spend yesterday inside thanks to the super powerful winds. This is rare for us, as we don’t usually let bad weather stop us from playing outside, but there is occasionally an exception.
However, the wind has blown away all the cobwebs so today was beautiful blue skies and sunshine. It makes the views look even more beautiful when the sun is shining, and we feel so lucky that this is what we get to look at every day.
The children loved the sound of the pink-footed geese that were constantly flying over. They do make quite a racket, but it was an interesting talking point for the children.
After the strong winds, we had to do a bit of a clean-up operation. Unfortunately our new gazebo needs welding as the wind has done some damage. Our windchimes were clearly working overtime too as they were lying exhausted on the floor.
We had also hoped that the wind might dry up a muddy patch that has been lingering for a few weeks, but we were disappointed to see it hadn’t helped. We need some more bark for the area if anyone has any they’d like to donate.

Being in such a perfect rural location (while still being near to Chester), we have so much wildlife. The hedges were full of sparrows today so we filled up the bird feeders and hid to watch them swoop in and out and grab some much-needed food.
The children’s other interests have also surrounded filling the trucks in the construction area, then dumping them into the next truck, and the next and the next before driving them away full to the brim.
The mud kitchen has been busy too as the children have phoned through orders to each other and cooked up all sorts of delicious looking muddy meals.
The ladies have spent a lot of time listening to shouts of “beetle!”, “ladybird!”, “worm!” and other creatures and then drawing them (badly 
) on the chalkboard.
Lyndsey, our pre-school manager, rounded the project off perfectly by producing a wormery that she had bought, and the children helped her to fill it with mud and worms.
Finally, to top off a brilliant day, the parents of our children from two years ago arrived with a van load of donations of toys that their children had grown out – you guys are amazing, thank you!
